Day 4: Daruma and sushi

Today’s journal is from Luna:
Today we have had a lot of fun traveling between making daruma, eating sushi, and making osenbei. It’s been raining all day due to the typhoon season, but the rain hasnt been able to dampen our spirits, or rain on our parade. We’ve been having fun jumping in puddles and running in the rain trying to avoid cars.

Making daruma was really interesting, everyone was so creative with their daruma, and everyone had very well made darumas.

We took a rest at a kurukuru sushi restaurant which everyone probably ate alittle too much sushi... and udon... and parfait... but we all had fun watching sushi be delivered to us by conveyor belts and watching small screens that show a cartoon if we win a prize or not based on how many plates we collected.

My favorite thing to do so far is make daruma mostly because it involves a lot of artistic skill and it’s fun to be creative, we also have kurukuru sushi which was really really good, all of the sushi is so well made and it’s a lot of fun to collect plates and try to get a toy. My favorite sushi so far was the shrimp with mayonnaise just because the mayonnaise was soooo good.

The osenbei (rice cracker) was really really fun to make outdoors. The scenery was very pretty, and the grill was really hot to keep away the cold and scare away the cold. Everyone enjoyed making osenbei and seeing who made the best osenbei. Osenbei are rice crackers that are similar to making chips, so normally people don’t make osenbei so we were very lucky.

We also had some free time in which people were able to visit hyaku-en stores, or dollar stores. People could also visit manga shops, or the local seven-eleven, well known for their convenience and quality items.
