Day 5: Elementary School visit

Today we visited Sakuragawa Elementary school in Kasukabe city.

We gave our presentation on America, Wisconsin/Minnesota and Eau Claire, and went to a lot of classes. We even had lunch with the students and helped clean their classrooms.

From Dante:
Dante - Megan, Kang, Korr and I went to art class after recess. On a foam board, we cut designs and spread ink on it. Then, we stamped them onto paper, and had our designs! After art, it was lunchtime, and we ate in the first classroom we learned in. We had meat sauce, noodles, vegetables, a yogurt type drink, and a lemon flavored dessert. We helped the students clean the classroom after we ate, it was pretty fun! Then, we went to the gym and performed in front of third graders, first graders, and second graders. We introduced ourselves and taught the kids about America. Afterwards, we taught the kids the chicken dance, and did a fun rock-paper-scissors tournament. We said goodbye, and returned home. Overall, the experience was really fun and I'm glad we did it!

From Megan:
Elementary schoolers are just as loud in Japan as they are in America. They're just as wild but they also tend to listen more to their teachers then their counterparts in America.

We went around to many different classes and introduced ourselves and what our favorite thing was. Then we told them about America, but mostly about Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The students also got a chance to ask us all questions and tell us what they knew about America.

We got to go outside to play with the kids during recess. We played many different games with the kids. We had a great time with them.
