23 gifts for Sendai Japan from Eau Claire Wisconsin

This week we found out we are going to visit Sendai:
"On 11 March 2011, coastal areas of the city of Sendai suffered catastrophic damage from a magnitude 9.0 off shore earthquake which triggered a destructive tsunami. It's the largest city in the Tohoku Region. In 2005, the city had a population of one million, and was one of Japan's 19 designated cities".

According to the Kizuna office, because students will be visiting locations where large numbers of people lost their lives, the planning committee asks that school groups refrain from wearing particularly colorful or flashy clothing. Please ask your students to wear more muted and dull colors so as to not offend community members.

One of our ideas to visit Sendai is bringing "a bit of Wisconsin" to Sendai people to share. All 23 Kizuna crew member brought gifts from Wisconsin!  Here is a picture of the items:

Hope Sendai people get know about Wisconsin!
